The votes are in, and Pullman's Ferdinand's Ice Cream Shoppe has won the 2012 Progressive Dairyman Flavor Faceoff.

"The students and staff at the WSU Creamery are excited, honored and flattered that our huckleberry ice cream received the most votes," creamery manager Russ Salvadalena said.

Huckleberry has sold out from the recent publicity, Salvadalena said, but the creamery is producing more.

Emily Caldwell, an editor from Progressive Dairyman Magazine, said about 1,350 votes were cast in the competition, some of them from repeat voters. The magazine is now accepting nominees for the 2013 Flavor Faceoff.
