The Washington state Senate Democrats released their proposed budget Tuesday morning which did not include cuts to higher education, according to the Senate Democrats blog.

“The budget honors the highest priority of families and communities across the state by making no cuts to current K-12 or higher education funding, recognizing their importance to the future of our residents and our state,” said Sen. Ed Murray, chair of the Senate Ways & Means Committee, in the blog.

This operating budget proposal is coming about a week after the House Democrats released their proposal which included a $9.34 million cut to WSU. Gov. Chris Gregoire released her proposed budget in November more than $160 million in cuts to higher education.
