The WSU women's rowing team will host its lone home regatta of the season as it faces Oregon State, Saturday, April 28 at 9 a.m. at Wawawai Landing on the Snake River.

The No. 16 Cougars return to action after sweeping Gonzaga in dual action April 21 at Silver Lake in Medical Lake, Wash.

WSU and Oregon State meet each spring to compete in dual action. On the line are the Crawford Perpetual Plate, named after the Cougars' first rowing coach,Tammy Crawford, and the Winchell Cup, named for 11-year novice coach, Jodi Winchell.

The Crawford Perpetual Plate is awarded to the winner of the varsity eight race.

WSU has garnered the award for the last two years and has held on to the plate in three of the last four meetings with the Beavers.

The Winchell Cup is awarded to the team with the most total points on the day, with points awarded based on the boat's finish. The point system is weighted with the most points available in the varsity eight race.

The Cougars have hoisted the cup two-consecutive years and three of the last four years. Oregon State last won the Crawford Perpetual Plate and the Winchell Cup in 2009.

"Oregon State is a strong team and you can't overlook anyone in the Pac-12," Head Coach Jane LaRiviere said. "They had some great races two weeks ago at the Michigan Invitational and we are expecting a close race all the way down the course this weekend. It's coming down to the end of the season and we are ready to have a great race from start to finish. The course down at the Snake River is a lot of fun for spectators and we are excited to be racing at home."

In their final regular season regatta of 2011, the Cougars traveled to Corvallis, Ore. to face the Beavers, April 30, 2011. WSU completed the sweep of Oregon State, notching victories in all seven events. The sweep marked the first of OSU for LaRiviere in her tenure at WSU. Washington State won the varsity eight event for a second-consecutive season and held on to the Crawford Perpetual Plate. The Cougars also garnered the Winchell Cup for the second year in a row.
