The WSU student arrested for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend in the chest this weekend was released Monday evening from the Whitman County Jail.
Madison Heersink, 20, was arrested for second degree assault and for first degree burglary, according to the Pullman police log. The alleged stabbing occurred at 1:24 a.m. Sunday at the victim’s residence.
Heersink was arrested for burglary in addition to assault because it appears she forced her way into the victim’s room by breaking the door prior to the stabbing, said Sgt. Dan Hargraves of the Pullman Police Department.
The victim, a WSU student whose name was not released, was transported to Pullman Regional Hospital that night with non-life threatening injuries.
He had a stab wound on his chest to the left of his heart, Hargraves said. The victim was later transported to a Spokane hospital.
The victim told police that he and Heersink had been drinking prior to the incident, Hargraves said.
This is classified as a domestic violence case because the victim was the boyfriend of Heersink, Hargraves said. He did not know whether the victim had been released from the hospital.
