Recent renovations inside Beasley Coliseum will feature new speakers and video monitors, but not the kind found at Best Buy.

The setup will ring in at $3 million, according to a Daily Journal of Commerce article.

Beasley Coliseum Director Leo Udy said the new system will have all the bells and whistles.

“It’s going to be a center-hung scoreboard, so it’ll hang right down at half court, and it’ll have four large video screens, one on each side,” Udy said.

The scoreboard will also feature ribbon board around it and a Cougar logo on the bottom facing downward, Udy said.

“If you’ve ever looked at the new scoreboard at (the University of) Oregon, at Eugene, it’s pretty similar to that as far as the look,” he said.

The new system will replace the screens in the north and south corners of the coliseum and replace the old audio setup throughout the building and in the middle of the ceiling.

Renovations to the coliseum began in August and are scheduled to finish on October 1.

“I think (the new system) will make a big difference,” Udy said. “It will really enhance the atmosphere in Beasley.”

Udy said the video screens will feature graphics, score updates and live video in.

“I think it will really enhance (fans’) experience at basketball games,” Udy said.
