With a three-day weekend ahead and fresh snow on the ground, Pullman residents looking to get away and hit the slopes can visit one of these parks to fill their skiing needs.
Mt. Spokane Ski and Snowboard Park
Distance: An hour and a half away — within day trip distance.
Price: A day pass for adults is $49, but with your student ID it’s $42.
What’s there: Mt. Spokane provides a shuttle service that runs from Lodge 2, which is located at the base area of the mountain. At Lodge 2, there are rental services, ticketing, free ski checks, food service and dining areas, the Foggy Bottom Lounge and Wi-Fi access.
Mission Ridge Ski and Board Resort
Distance: About a four hour drive, just outside of Wenatchee
Price: Day passes for young adults (ages 13-24) start at $45
What’s there: There are several hotels in the area. Red Lion Hotel Wenatchee starts at $129 for singles and $169 a night for two. Any of the Wenatchee lodge packages includes shuttle service to the mountain.
Schweitzer Mountain Resort
Distance: About a three hour drive to Sandpoint, Idaho
Price: For college students with their IDs, a day pass is $58
What’s there: If you’re looking to stay the night, you can find the Selkirk Lodge at the resort. That will set you back $168 a night. If you’re looking for something cheaper and are willing to stay off the mountain, there is also the La Quinta in Sandpoint that will be $79.99 a night.
Ski Bluewood
Distance: About an hour and a half drive
Price: Day passes start at $42 for adults
What’s there: If you plan to stay in town, there is the Bluewood View Suite that is on Weinhard Hill north of historical downtown Dayton. A one-bedroom suite starts at $95 a night, and you can add a second bedroom to the suite for $40.
Silver Mountain Resort
Distance: About two hours from Pullman to Kellogg, Idaho
Price: Day passes start at $47 for college students with their IDs.
What’s there: There’s a separate water park at the mountain in case you want to do more than ski. The “Splash and Stay” package at the Silver Rapids Indoor Waterpark starts at $49.75 per person based on a four-person occupancy in a deluxe studio.
Brundage Mountain Resort
Distance: A three hour drive from Pullman
Price: Day passes for adults start at $57, and there are lodging packages too.
What’s there: The Stay and Ski package through Best Western is $89.99 per person based on double occupancy. The Holiday Inn Express also has a Stay and Ski package which starts at $84.50 per person based on double occupancy.
