editor:

I am a concerned student writing in response to the article printed on Friday, April 13 regarding the WSU Police: Face to Face Forum in the CUB Lair.

The topic was sexual assault. The problem is what should people believe. We have Director of the Office for Equal Opportunity Raúl Sánchez in charge of the Title IX who said drunk people can give consent.

My concern is that everyone else I have talked with, and every SA awareness training and event I have attended, has told me that an intoxicated person is not able to give consent to anything. If a person gets drunk and is raped, the perpetrator could just say that the person gave consent.

As a person who is deeply involved with Sexual Assault Awareness through V-Day and working with Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse, I am concerned with the mixed information that students are receiving from people who are in authority.
